Definition
A head covering which usually also covers the neck and sometimes the shoulders. It is made of various fabrics and is constructed to be loose or close fitting. It may be stiffened with cane or whalebone inserted into channels, or attached to a coat and may also be worn over a bonnet. Used to protect the head or the headdress from the elements. It may also be used for fashion.
