Definition
A book consisting of a rigid bound cover made of cloth, heavy paper or leather, lined with paperboard, often with embellished motifs lettering and illustrations. It has a flexible, sewn spine which allows the book to lie flat on a surface when opened. The hardcover is used to protect a book for the long term and also to decorate it.
