Definition
An object consisting of a light cross-shaped frame, usually made of wood, covered with thin bright colored material of plastic or paper, sometimes in the form of an animal, hanging from the end a long rope; spinners and spinsocks can be attached to the flying line for visual effect. Used for flying in the wind. Once air born, the kite floats in the air following the wind currents; the rope can be used to steer.
